KELSEY Park School's main hall has seen dramatic election scenes in the past but last Thursday night was not one of them.
In the same room where the Piers Merchant saga threatened to destroy the Beckenham Tory party in 1997, dedicated volunteers counted the ballot papers which would strengthen Conservative council control. Council leader Councillor Michael Tickner romped home to victory in the reordered Copers Cope ward as MP Jacqui Lait looked on.
