A RECRUITMENT consultant hanged himself at his Bromley home after encountering financial problems.

Daniel Barwick, aged 31, of Southborough Lane, was found by a friend who called by to visit him.

Sian Minor told Croydon Coroner's Court how Mr Barwick seemed to be having financial troubles.

She said: "He told me he had not been sleeping well.

"He confided in me sometimes but I suspect he didn't tell me everything."

She went to his address on July 15 and entered using a key to the property.

"The curtains were drawn and I thought he might be asleep," she added.

"I took my jacket off and went upstairs, and there I saw him."

The court heard how he had secured a length of rope through the loft hatch and tied it around his neck.

Following the discovery of Mr Barwick's body, a handwritten note was found on the kitchen table.

Recording a suicide verdict, coroner Dr Roy Palmer said: "The note makes it clear he had felt unable to go on living, and that he had financial problems.

"Miss Minor must have been very upset to have found him. One never really can understand why people act in this sort of way. Clearly his financial worries were tremendous in his mind and he could not resolve them."
