February 13, 2001 10:45: A BROMLEY couple finally take the plunge this Valentine's Day and get married after putting it off for 15 years.
Alison Holmes, 40, and Richard Trenholme, 52, first got together on Valentine's Day in 1986, after meeting through mutual friends. But despite being a couple since then, they have delayed getting hitched until now.
Alison told the News Shopper: "We didn't want to rush into anything we wanted to see if we were right for each other. But I think that we've both had enough time to make our minds up now."
Social worker Alison and builder Richard are set to marry at Bromley registry office at 2.30pm today, with only three close friends in attendance.
Alison added: "We deliberately wanted to keep the occasion small, and just for us."
The couple have a 13 year old son, Daniel but he wasn't due to attend.
Alison said: "He is at the age when these things are a little embarrassing, but secretly Dan is delighted."
A honeymoon to New York is planned later in the year, but it is just the celebratory bubbly for now.
