From Alan R. Jones, Ryde:
I think the strategy of the IW planners needs a major overhaul, regarding building on greenfield sites outside the development envelope.
Why have a planning committee that has a gun held to its head. I am referring to the disgraceful way the Westridge Farm site application was conducted by Wendy Perrera, head of planning.
After deferring the application twice and waiting for the May elections, which brought about a fresh planning committee, she finally got the result she wanted, approval, despite a recommendation of refusal by Ryde Town Council, which listened to local views.
I feel sorry for the Holliday family, who are going to lose 11 acres of prime grazing ground, and to the 210 objectors, who have been ignored.
After Pennyfeathers (904 dwellings), Mitchells Road (79), the old Warner’s holiday camp (128), behind 63 Ashey Road (12) and Westridge Farm (80), the Rosemary Vineyard application (179) is a foregone conclusion.
