THE Island's footballers got back in the game today (Saturday) as matches went ahead in the Sydenhams Wessex League, Hampshire Cup and Harwoods Vauxhall IW Saturday League.

In the Wessex League Premier Division it was a disappointing return for Newport, who lost 2-0 at home to Winchester City, with goals in the second and 92nd minutes.
In Division 1, however, Cowes Sports had a winning restart, beating New Milton Town 3-1 away, with goals from Ollie Wilson, Joe Adams and a Ross Gregory penalty.
In the Hampshire Cup there was a disappointing 3-0 defeat for Brading Town at Baffins Rovers, in the Intermediate Cup quarter-finals, but in the semi-finals of the Junior B Cup, Bembridge defeated DJS Telecoms 5-2 to reach the final.
