Ricky George, guest of honour for the Barnet Sunday League's awards night, is also president of Premier Division champions Barnet Youth FC and proudly presented the trophy to team manager Graham Morgan at The Firs, Winchmore Hill, on Friday.

George, an FA Cup hero for Barnet and Hereford United in the 1970's, was back in the spotlight earlier this year as co-owner of Grand National winner Earth Summit.

He was welcomed by Barnet SL chairman Roger Jones, a long-time friend, as is the league's president, BBC TV soccer commentator John Motson, who was busy with preparations for the FA Cup final and missed the occasion.

Two days later, the champions completed the double with a 3-2 win in extra-time over Locomotive Enfield in the Senior Cup final at Barnet FC.

Barnet Youth led twice through Fred Cudjoe (40min, 66min), but Locomotive struck back to level through Scott Ardley (58min) and Graham Read (67min).

Locomotive suffered a blow when Peter Dudley was sent off in the 76th minute by referee Peter Jago for his second bookable offence.

Their gallant 10 men survived, helped by the woodwork, until five minutes from the end of extra-time when Tom Moody steered home the winner for Barnet.
