Brading make early title surge

BRADING Town kept up their 100 per cent start to the season with a comfortable win over GKN.

The home side left themselves a mountain to climb when they had a defender sent off for a handball on the line.

Dan Vale converted the resulting penalty and in the second half goals from James Phipps, Caymen Collins and Ben Armstrong sealed the points.

Reigning champions West Wight kept up the pressure with a 4-1 defeat of Osborne Coburg. Adam Millar, Danny Ross, Chris Griffiths and Leon Day were West Wight’s scorers, with Ben Harvey replying.

And Northwood kept up the pressure with a good 2-1 win at Shanklin. Tom Fox and Lee McKenzie found the net for the visitors with Jordy Galsworthy replying.

Pan hit Cowes for six with Billy Allen netting three times and Brendon Arnold, Scott Williams and Graeme Bast one each.

Oakfield went third with a convincing 3-0 win at Ventnor, with goals coming from Lee Eldridge, Cass O’Neill and Sam Hart.

The other game in the division saw Ryde Saints overcome Niton 5-3.

Sam Woodmore scored twice for Saints, including a great overhead kick, while there were one apiece for Tom Dunnett, with a super strike, Shane Austin and Dave Sweet.

Niton’s scorers were Brian McGuire, with two, and Callum Trueman.
