Depleted side manage draw

FOOTBALLFleet Spurs 0, East Cowes Vics 0

DEPLETED Vics, missing half a dozen first-team players, did well to earn a point against Fleet on Saturday.

The squad, minus Tom Scovell, Joe Adams, Matt Woods, Joe Rayner, Matt Evans and Simon Williams through injury or unavailability, called up Matt Brown and Luke Arkless to the side.

The game itself was a very tight affair, with Vics coping well against Fleet’s main weapon — the long throw.

Arkless had a couple of chances to put Vics in the lead including a shot from a tight angle which was cleared off the line.

Brown came on for his debut in the second half when he replaced Paul O’Connor.

Right at the end of the game, goalkeeper Jordan Brownrigg made a good save to preserve a deserved point.

Vics: Brownrigg, Barnes, Sainsbury, O’Connor, Yelland, Newnham, Ebbs, Sunsberg, Knowles, Shepherd, Arkless. Subs: Brown.
