COWES Sports put their midweek derby woes behind them today (Saturday) by beating Pewsey Vale 4-2 at a boggy Westwood Park.
Conditions made the game scrappy but Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1 leaders Cowes, settled their nerves when Dom Burbidge netted after only five minutes.
He went on to score a great hat-trick, with a goal from skipper Gareth Bricknell boosting the total.
Both of Pewsey's goals came in the second half, the second of which was just before the final whistle.
Newport's FA Vase game at home to Ascot United was called off just an hour before kick off while back in the Wessex League, Hythe and Dibden postponed their home game against East Cowes Vics.
