Draw salvaged in second half

Freddie Knowles scored the first goal for Vics.

FOOTBALL Stockbridge 2, East Cowes Vics 2

EAST Cowes Vics made the tough trip to Stockbridge and came away with a point in Division 1 on Saturday.

The first half saw Stockbridge dominating while the visitors had the better of the second period.

In the first half, Jack Hutchings went close on two occasions early on, before they took the lead in the 20th minute, when a cross from the left by Hutchings was headed home by Mike Barker.

Barker had a another good effort saved by Vics’ goalkeeper Gareth True soon after but they made it 2-0 when Jamie Coleman chipped in.

In the second half, the hosts continued to create chances but East Cowes Vics kept plugging away and with the introduction of Josh Appell and Adam Sunsberg, who had fresh legs after missing the side’s midweek game, they had more impetus going forward.

The move paid off when, in the 57th minute they gained a vital goal back through Freddie KNOWLES from close range.

The equaliser came with around quarter of an hour to go, when Chris ELLIOTT netted, again from close range.

Vics: True, Ford, Newnham, Howarth, O’Connor, Sainsbury, Yelland, Scovell, Knowles, Elliott, Evans. Subs: Appell, Sunsberg, Barnes.
