YOUTH FOOTBALLARRETON St George’s Primary School won the IW Primary School Cup, beating Carisbrooke by a single goal.

Holders Carisbrooke began as firm favourites but they were surprised by the enthusiastic Arreton team.

The match was close throughout and the first half ended scoreless. In the second half, both sides pushed hard for a goal, with Arreton goalkeeper Aedan Coode keeping his side in it with some splendid saves.

In the end, it was a penalty, skilfully taken by Harry Green, which separate the sides and saw Arreton lift the cup.

Manager Maria Herbert said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Arreton and all the boys involved. Together with coach Matt Mair, the team has worked incredibly hard and deserve their success.”
