A FIVE-star display from East Cowes Vics earned them a comfortable three points over Petersfield Town in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League on Saturday.
Freddie Knowles hit a hat-trick and strikes from Wayne Newnham and Tom Scovell made the difference as they cruised to a 5-2 victory at home.
But there was disappointment for Cowes Sports as they lost 1-0 to Tadley Calleva away. Having had a penalty chance saved early in the first half, Cowes then conceded a penalty early in the second, which Tadley converted to take the win.
In the Premier Division, Newport enjoyed a great 3-1 win away at Hayling Utd.
There was plenty of physical action, with goalkeeper Cameron Farley hurt at one point after being bundled over a pitch barrier, while Hayling played with ten men in the second half.
Newport's goals came from Kyle Levrier, Tom McInnes and Sam Dye, while Hayling's came from the penalty spot.
