FORMER Islander Gary Rowett has been sacked by Birmingham City.
Rowett, 42, who played for Gurnard youth and Cowes High School as a teenager, lost his job, despite last night's 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town, leaving Birmingham seventh in the Sky Bet Championship.
Rowett, a former Birmingham player, took over as manager in 2014 after leaving Burton Albion.
The club has already appointed former Chelsea star Gianfranco Zola as his replacement.
