Indian Gymkhana 243

Harrow Town 244-5

An opening stand of 166 from club captain Paul Manley and Graeme West turned the match around and helped Harrow Town to an impressive Middlesex Championship League victory over much-fancied Indian Gymkhana on Saturday.

Manley's 113 and West's 66 did the trick when Gymkhana must have felt their batting display was worth at the very least a draw.

It completed a good week for opening bat Manley, who has been chosen to represent the Middlesex Championship League against the Essex League.

Gymkhana opened on their always perfectly prepared pitch and 90 from Odedra and 50 by Sisodia helped them to a highly respectable 243 all out in 53 overs.

For Town the best of the bowlers was Kirit Vakani, who took 4-40.

Despite the attentions of Odedra, who proved his skill with the ball was equal to his batting taking 3-68, in-form duo Manley and West helped Town reach the target and victory with 244 for the loss of just five wickets in 44 overs.

Town's victory made it two on the trot following last Saturday's first league win of the season over promoted British Airways.

They take a rest from league action on Saturday, but will still be looking to make it three on the trot when they entertain near-neighbours Sudbury Court at their Rayners Lane ground in the League Cup.

Harrow School pupil Sam Stevens was the star of the show with the bat and the ball as Harrow Town made it a weekend double when they added the scalp of Northampton Exiles in the Sunday League to Saturday's victory over Indian Gymkhana.

Teenager Sam shaded the top scoring spot with 30 and Town had three other batsmen on 26 -- Graham Budd, Phil French and skipper Simon Halliday -- as the local side reached 168 before the final wicket fell.

Town then bowled out their opponents for exactly 100. Chris Vinten took 3-22 runs and Stevens was there too taking 2-7 in six overs.
