Plans to revamp the borough's libraries and leisure facilities were put on display throughout the borough on Monday.

Residents have until the end of July to comment on proposals, which include the closure of South Ruislip, Ruislip Manor and Hayes libraries, Fountains Mill and Ruislip youth centres, Hayes Pool and athletics track and Victoria Hall in Ruislip Manor. The closures would enable the council to build multi-use community centres in Uxbridge, Hayes and Ruislip, incorporating leisure facilities, libraries, learning centres and art galleries, as well as new youth centres in Ruislip and Uxbridge. Improvements to the Compass Arts Centre, Ickenham and Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip are also part of the planned revamp.

Displays of the plans, together with comment forms can be found until June 30 in Uxbridge Civic Centre, Uxbridge Central Library, Hayes Stadium, Pool or Library, Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip libraries and Victoria Hall adult education centre in Ruislip Manor.

They are also at Sainsbury's stores in York Road, Uxbridge, Coldharbour Lane, Hayes and Station Approach, South Ruislip.

A survey of 600 borough households is also planned. A report of the consultation will come before the council's education committee in September, when the plans will be finalised. Full details of the proposals, in a document called the Asset Management Review Update, are available in libraries, leisure centres and adult education centres, or call the helpline on 01895 250 242.
