THERE were significant results for all three of the Island's senior sides today (Saturday).

East Cowes Vics registered a huge result, drawing 1-1 at Tadley Calleva through a Dan Verstraeten free kick. The side had started with the bare 11 against the fifth-placed side in Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1.

Meanwhile Cowes Sports defeated their main promotion rivals, Petersfield Town, away from home, 3-2. Jordan Browne scored two goals, with Joe Adams getting them off the mark.

In the Premier Division, Newport bounced back from their defeat to Sholing on Thursday, with a 2-1 victory over Fareham. Newport, who went down to ten men mid way through after goalkeeper Cameron Farley was sent off, won with goals for Charlie Smeeton and Iain Seabrook.
