FOOTBALL Shanklin Ladies Res 4, New Forest Ladies 0

SHANKLIN Ladies Reserves kicked off their Hampshire League campaign with an impressive win against New Forest on Sunday.

The only resistance offered by their mainland opponents was a high defensive line and offside trap.

It didn’t take Shanklin long to break through, Tally Deacon on the mark after just ten minutes.

Numerous offside decisions prevented any further scoring in the first half but, straight after the break, Lauren Crews broke through to slam in the second via the far post.

Soon after and the trap was breached again, this time Kim Masterton benefitting with a cool finish for the third.

Deacon wrapped up the win with the fourth and final goal in the last ten minutes.

On Sunday the first team are at home to Mansfield Road with a 2pm kick off and the reserves are away to Portsmouth University Reserves,

The first team game is being played at Beatrice Avenue, home to East Cowes Vics.

Shanklin: Alder, Smith, Kilcullen, Wren, Rider, Dye, Masterton, Merryfield, Deacon, Gibbins, Crews. Subs, Tayler, Davis, Regan.
