NEWPORT powered through to the next round of the FA Cup today (Saturday), with a comfortable 2-0 win over Horndean at St George's Park.

In the late summer sunshine, Newport could have made it more, playing some exquisite football in the midfield but their final shot letting them down on occasions.
Nevertheless it was a goal in each half which saw them through, GC Giancovich beating the offside trap for the first, and John McKie slamming home into the top left corner for the second.
Newport discover their opponents for the second qualifying round of the competition on Monday.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for both Cowes Sports and East Cowes Vics.
Sports lost 3-1 at US Portsmouth in the first round of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup, a first-half penalty from Darren Williams providing their consolation.
Meanwhile in Division 1, Vics lost 2-1 at home to Tadley Calleva, Matt Evans scoring their goal.
