Hillside School's football teams made a flying start to this season's campaigns.

The under 16s achieved two fine victories to progress to the second rounds of both the County Cup and the regional rounds of the National Cup.

In the County competition two goals from Michael Weinrich and one from Steve Veal sealed a hard fought 3-2 win over Adeyfield.

Michael Weinrich was also in fine form in the National Cup, hitting a hat-trick against Barclay School.

And a goal each from Gareth Bond-Vaughan and Dene Lewis helped Hillside romp to a 5-0 win.

The under 19s entered the second round of the County Cup, beating Chancellors 2-1, courtesy of a brace of great goals from Jon Ridout.

While in the equivalent under-15s competition Hillside beat Stanborough 5-2, with two goals each from Jamie Lever and Daniel Percival, with a Michael Phillips strike to complete the scoring.

And in friendlies against St Michael, Hillside notched two wins and one defeat.

The under 14 side beat St Michael's 6-1 with Paul Keightley grabbing a hat-trick, while the under 15 'B' side enjoyed a 9-1 result, which saw Michael Phillips and Andrew Berry helping themselves to hat-tricks. But the U15 'A' side went down 3-4.
