A scheme aimed at reducing youth crime during the summer holidays was launched last week by the Metropolitan Police and Home Secretary Jack Straw.
Summer Action, which has the backing of Hertsmere Borough Council, aims to provide a wide range of stimulating and challenging activities for young people aged between ten and 17-years-old living in the Met's area.
It is hoped the scheme will prevent youngsters either committing crime or becoming victims of it as well as promote active citizenship.
The council and local business will help by providing a range of activities from arts and crafts to IT workshops.
Commissioner Sir Paul Condon said: "Preventing young people from becoming involved in crime remains an integral part of our youth strategy. Working together with local authorities and the business sector enables us to further our aim."
