ISLE of Wight footballer Shaun Cooper has been signed on loan by cash-strapped Portsmouth FC.
The former Bournemouth player, who started his league career at Fratton Park, has come back to the club from Pompey's League One rivals, Crawley Town, on a month-by-month loan basis.
Twenty-nine-year-old Cooper, who can play in defence or midfield, played youth football for Downside, Binstead and Shanklin, as well as senior football in the Island and Hampshire leagues.
Pompey caretaker manager Guy Whittingham said Cooper's experience would bolster the squad ahead of tomorrow's (Saturday) relegation clash at home to Hartlepool United.
Isle of Wight youngster Dan Butler is also expected to feature in the Pompey squad.
