Rain washes out festive fixtures

HEAVY rain has wiped out the football programme today (Saturday).

All three of the Island's senior sides found out early this morning that their respective games were off, due to waterlogged pitches.
In Sydenhams Wessex League Division 1, East Cowes Vics were due to host Laverstock and Ford, while Cowes Sports were due to travel to US Portsmouth. In the Premier Division, Newport were due to travel to Christchurch.
Newport's next game is now not until December 28, while Vics and Cowes are playing each other on Boxing Day at Westwood Park.
