Friday, August 20, 2010

FOOTBALL Romsey Town 0, Brading Town 4

BRADING Town turned on the style on Tuesday night to go through to the next round of the FA Cup.

The Romans made the most of their replay opportunity, to put in what has been described by travelling fans as one of the best team performances in three seasons.

The side were comfortably in the lead by half time, thanks to two goals from Scott JONES, who ran the opposition ragged, and a third from GC GIANCOVICH.

A fourth goal from Josh APPELL in the second half put the icing on the cake for the Islanders.

Brading Town 1, Romsey Town 1

Brading grabbed a late equaliser to force a replay against Romsey Town in the extra-preliminary round of the FA Cup.

After a goalless first half , where Brading could have gone ahead through Kieron Ford, had his effort not been ruled offside, Romsey took the lead.

Brading protested the goal after it appeared a handball had been used in the build-up but the goal stood. The Romans piled on the pressure after this, with good chances for substitute Scott Jones. The breakthrough finally came with five minutes left, when GC GIANCOVICH slotted home.

The final moments were frantic as both sides looked for the winner although neither were able to break the deadlock.

Brading Town: True, Quigley, Przespolewski, Fleming, Stuber, Ford, Appell, Rayner, Giancovich, Levrier, Ince. Subs: Morris, Buckett, Jones, Plumbley.
