COWES Sports player Ryan Gregory has made the cut in a nationwide competition to win a professional contract with a Football League club.
Ryan, 19, of Brading, is set to take part in the first round of trials for Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract, which could see him sign up for Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers or Leyton Orient.
More than 5,700 players from all over the country entered the competition, and Ryan is one of 360 who have been picked for the skills testing session, which takes place at Goals Soccer Centre in Bristol next Sunday, October 27.
Ryan said: "It’s a big opportunity for me, and a last chance for me to be seen in front of the right people. I just want to get to the trial and let my technical ability shine, I really do think I have what it takes.
"Getting released from Bournemouth when I was 16 was a huge upset, so this competition gives me another chance to prove myself and maybe go on to win a pro contract. I’m looking to go all the way, I wouldn’t have entered otherwise!"
