Sunday sides in action

FOOTBALL

THERE were mixed results for Island sides taking part in the Hampshire Sunday Junior A Cup first round last weekend.

Fairway enjoyed a 7-1 win over AFC Eastney, with goals from Adam Cantelo, three, Brad Kenning, two, Max Cowley and Joe Collins, while High Park Tavern beat RAF Odiham Families 6-2, with goals from Scott Wilkinson, four, Joseph Hunt and Ashley Gulliver.

However, there was defeat after extra time and penalties for Shanklin, who had drawn 4-4 at Maracley Shots over 90 minutes. Ryan Brown, two, Jason Smythers and Steve Kerslake scored.

Meanwhile, Otter Sunday defeated Sands Hotel 2-1, with Scott Wright netting in his last match for the club.

In the preliminary round of the Harold Moody Trophy, Shorwell beat Royal Canaries (Jason Peach and Jimmy Carter) 4-2, with goals from Alex Harvey, three, and Ashley Brett.

And in the only game of the IW Sunday League, Mad Cow defeated HKE Falcon (Harley Turner, three) 11-3, with goals from Harry Wade, three, Aleks Przespolewski, two, Liam Sherry, two, Gavin Dicker, Ross Gregory, Alex Wright and Dexter Malin.
