NEWPORT produced a plucky - and nerve-wracking - performance to defeat Cadbury Heath 1-0 and progress to the third round of the FA Vase.
In a physical and end-to-end game, Newport scored the winner in just the tenth minute, when Aleks Przespolewski headed in from close range after a delightful cross from James Butt.
Butt ended up with his head bandaged up after a nasty knock to the back of his head but, like his team mates, soldiered on in the face of some aggressive Cadbury attacks, and held on for a thrilling win.
They pocket £1,200 for the victory, and await their next challenge.
There were no smiles to be had for the Island's sides playing in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League, meanwhile.
Leaders Cowes Sports suffered a shock 1-0 defeat away to eighth-placed Whitchurch United, while East Cowes Vics lost 5-1 away at Fleet Spurs.
