FOOTBALLStockbridge 2, East Cowes Vics 2
CONFIDENT after their midweek Gold Cup victory, Vics immediately put sixth-placed Stockbridge under pressure in this Sydenhams Wessex League, Division 1 match.
Casey Tyrell grazed the cross bar in the first minute, one of several early chances.
The home side were struggling to get a foothold in the game and fell behind when a flowing move was clinically finished by John MCKIE.
Mark Watson went close from a far post header after another good move and Andy Ebbs clipped the side netting when through on goal.
Despite enjoying good possession and creating numerous chances Vics were made to pay for their inadequacies in front of goal.
Two missed challenges from each of the centre halves allowed a Stockbridge player clear to score an easy goal.
More dominance in the second half seemed to have finally paid off for Vics when substitute Will STURGESS got the Island side back in front with just eight minutes remaining.
But after Andy Ebbs missed a golden chance to put the game to bed, Stockbridge won a corner on the left in the dying seconds and equalised from it, leaving Vics with just a point.
