EAST Cowes Vics exited the FA Cup last night, at the preliminary round stage, but Newport's dreams are burning bright.
Vics, unusually playing the tie on a Friday night, lost 4-0 at Sholing, who play two leagues above them in the Southern League.
But today (Saturday), Newport put smiles back on Islanders' faces with a terrific 1-0 win at Moneyfields, a notoriously tough place to get a result.
The winner came in the 43rd minute, courtesy of John McKie.
They will now play either Horndean or Romsey Town in the first qualifying round on September 8.
