A SENIOR north London policeman is set to hang up his handcuffs and hand in his truncheon after 36 years of service.
Commander David Kendrick, head of crime operations for 3 area which covers Enfield will step down next month.
The 54-year-old, who is married with three children, was given the OBE in this year's New Year's Honours list.
He said: "I have enjoyed a wonderful career and have had the privilege of working with some very special people.
"I have realised policing is too important to be left to the police alone and I am encouraged that we now work in partnership with local authorities and other agencies."
