COWES earned a brilliant point away at Moneyfields on Tuesday night.

The side made the perfect start when Lee DAVIES netted after just 45 seconds and they held onto their lead until the 61st minute when the hosts were awarded a penalty.

Soon after though, Alex HARVEY was on target to restore Cowes’ lead but Moneyfields came back again, then took the lead with a second penalty, this time for handball.

But Cowes were determined and got their just reward when, in the third minute of injury time, Craig THOMAS held his nerve to score.

AN AWAY match at Sydenhams Wessex League, Premier Division leaders Wimborne, was always going to be tough for Cowes.

And, with six regulars missing and only Harry Dye returning from suspension, the Islanders feared the worst.

Those fears increased as it took the home side just three minutes to take the lead when a quick free kick from the Cowes right, found Steve Witcher who planted a volley past goalkeeper Dave Thurman.

However the Yachstmen stunned the 238 home crowd into silence in the seventh minute, when Michael JONES flicked an Andrew Watson throw into the left corner of the home goal.

However, Wimborne went on to score three more times in the first half, before netting another three in the second.
