BROMLEY'S new police chief is to meet a Chislehurst resident after reading his letter in the News Shopper.
Chief Superintendent David Dillnutt, who replaced Chief Superintendent Gerry Howlett last month, will meet Mike Pinchen to discuss policing in the borough.
Mr Pinchen, 49, of Slades Drive, wrote to the News Shopper saying a reduction of police officers and stations, as well as "a total absence of beat officers", had resulted in an increase in crime.
The central London fireman, who has lived in Chislehurst for 38 years, hoped the new borough commander would give residents "high-profile zero tolerance policing".
Chief Supt Dillnutt told the News Shopper the meeting would focus on issues such as vandalism, graffiti and other types of anti-social behaviour.
Mr Pinchen said: "I've lived in Chislehurst since 1964 and seen anti-social behaviour in recent years become almost epidemic, and I'm just sick of it. I'm stating this as a local taxpayer. I'm not a crusader, I'm just an ordinary bloke in the street voicing my opinion, having to watch a dwindling force cope with ever-increasing crime."
