Three Croydon Harriers are flying home from the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia this week with a clutch of medals.

The 400m specialist Donna Fraser will have the broadest smile when she touches down from the Far East.

After earning an individual bronze in the 400m with a time of 51.04, she helped England to bronze in the 4 x 100m relay and silver in the 4 x 400m with an outstanding anchor leg time of 50.2 secs.

The Harriers' veteran shot putt champion Judy Oakes also proved that age is still no barrier to success. Competing in her sixth Commonwealth Games, she set a new British Over 40s record with a putt of 18.83m to retain her title.

Despite a fine time of 55.61secs in the 400m hurdles Croydon's Natasha Danvers was beaten out to fifth spot.

The Harriers were also represented at Sunday's European Veterans Championships in Italy, Graham Pope setting a new over-50s 400m club record of 55.61 seconds to take fifth place.

At the more mundane surroundings of the Tooting Bec Arena on Saturday, Croydon's Dave Warren set a new club over-40s record for the 3,000m steeplechase, racing home to fifth place in 10 mins 45.6 secs.
