GARDENINGMY LITTLE piece about the Hungarian sarpo strain of blight-resistant potatoes resulted in an interesting response from the Savari Research Trust, which is developing numerous varieties.
David Shaw, from the trust, who promised to keep me in touch with developments, told me the second early una produces new potatoes just 63 days from planting, placing it on the cusp of a first early.
That’s not at all bad and I’ll let you know about the most important part — the taste — in June when they grace our plates.
