GARDENINGONE of the quintessential summer shows of the season takes place at Sheat Manor at Chillerton tomorrow (Saturday).

The venue for Chillerton and Gatcombe Horticultural Society’s show, which opens at 2pm, is one of the English summer treats of the calendar.

It is followed, on Wednesday, by Godshill Horticultural Society’s summer show, which is at the Godshill Scout Hut in May Close and it too starts at 2pm.

• The recent Kew Gardens palm house talk at Ventnor Botanic Garden raised £500 for the IW Youth Trust, which provides help for young people in trouble.
