Competitors who are under 23 will represent London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Athens and Dublin in events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, long jump and high jump on June 4.

It is anticipated that the Olympic qualifying 10,000m race will attract leading distance runners and will be one of the fastest races of the year.

Other events include competitions between the top ten UK men pole vaulters and competitions between the top ten UK women hammer throwers.

The athletics match will also feature the London borough under 15 girls and boys 4x100m relay race.

Former Olympic Javelin champion and vice chairman of Sport England Tessa Sanderson will officially open the arena at 7.30pm on June 1.

The arena now boasts a resurfaced running track,

extended from six to eight lanes, as part of a £2.6million refurbishment scheme funded by a £2.245million English Sports Council Lottery Fund grant.
