Ealing's new mayor takes office
Ealing's new Mayor received his chain of office this week.
Councillor Dave Bond received the chain from retiring Mayor, Cllr Philp Portwood and said: 'It's an honour and a privilege to be elected Mayor,' he said. 'The Mayoress, my wife Eileen, and I have lived in the London Borough of Ealing all our lives, and I'd like to thank everyone who has given me encouragement over the years.'
Cllr Bond will be supporting three charities during the next year: the Mayor's Christmas Fund, which helps pensioners; Meadow House Hospice, where Cllr Bond's own father died; and the Children's Unit at Ealing Hospital, which has just launched its 'Playground in the Sky' appeal. The deputy Mayor is now Cllr Ranjit Dheer.
