HARINGEY Council's decision to follow the Government line by not imposing a ban on the use of genetically modified (GM) foods in school meals and to avoid these where possible does not go far enough.

Until the results of conclusive experiments show that GM foods are safe to eat, only a ban will ensure that they do not find their way onto the plates of Haringey schoolchildren.

This Labour Government looks as if it will bend to the will of the food manufacturers, just as the previous Tory administration did to the tobacco giants.

Voluntary agreements? They are not worth the paper they are printed on.
