Dan West with club captain Roger Sims.
DAN West did his chances of becoming a professional golf instructor no harm after he won the 1959 Championship at Westridge Golf Club last weekend.
A club staff member, Dan won the scratch event with a score of 134 to retain the title he won last year. He beat second-placed Dave May, who scored 150, and third-placed Sam Rogers, with 156.
Sam won the handicap prize for the second year running, scoring 124, with Dan, who harbours an ambition to become a professional golf instructor, coming second and Brian Skelley, third.
In the Ladies’ Club Championship, Amy Lacey, with an 18 handicap, won her first scratch title with a score of 171.
Marilyn Lightburn, with a 30 handicap, posted 195, and third was Sarah Lloyd, a stroke behind her.
Marilyn did, however, win the handicap prize with 135, just pipping Amy into second, with Lai Sing Choi third.
