A TOP class day of mini rugby is promised as Westcombe Park RFC hosts its annual festival.

The club, based in Goddington Lane, Orpington, will be welcoming more than 1,500 children this Sunday as the festival celebrates its silver jubilee.

Boys and girls from 20 rugby clubs in Kent, Essex and Surrey will be competing in this year's event which will be the biggest ever.

When the festival was first launched by Mike Read, the father of one of 'Combe's current First XV players, only three clubs and three schools competed and there were no medals or certificates.

This year's event, sponsored by Sun Life of Canada will have cups, medals and certificates for all the children who play.

The feast of rugby from Under 7s to Under 12s kicks off at 10am.
