HOCKEYTHE annual IW Hockey Festival, organised by the IW Hockey Club, takes place this weekend.
This year’s event, at Newport Recreation Ground, features more than 25 men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams from across the country.
Each team will play up to three games each day, with the first games of the day getting under way at 10.30am.
The focus is on fun but it also gives players the chance to meet with old friends or find out more about taking up the sport.
There will be a hockey shop, food stalls and a licensed bar on site.
A Saturday night disco is also being laid on by the club.
Club chairman Clive Green said: "We’re certainly one of the most popular festivals because many teams see this as a mini-trip abroad, mainly because they have to board a ferry to get to it, giving the sense of going away somewhere for a weekend."
