A TALENTED young hockey player has made the UK Lions squad.

Louis Wrenn, 13, of Bembridge, only took up the game a few years ago with the IW Hockey Club and, under the tutelage of John Milton ended up being selected for Hampshire.

The Ryde School pupil, who plays at centre half, then made the South of England under-13s for the UK Lions National U13 tournament in Nottingham.

The team equalised in the dying seconds of the final and took the honours on penalty flicks.

Players who impressed UK Lions coaches during the tournament were then picked for the 24-strong squad.

Louis will now take part in training sessions and games all over the country and in Europe.
