ICE HOCKEYTHERE have been plenty of comings and goings confirmed by the Wightlink Raiders this weekend, as two players depart, four players re-sign and a new face joins the line-up.

The club released a new signing every day this week, with defenceman Daniel Pye the first to be announced. Also returning are Niall Bound, Nathan Taylor and Richard Facey.

A new face to the team for next season is defenceman Nick Compton, 23, who signs from English Premier League side Swindon Wildcats.

The GB junior international has also played for Peterborough Phantoms as well as in the USA, and joins to fill the void left by Dominic Hopkins, who has decided not to rejoin the Raiders this season.

Player-coach Jeremy Cornish said: "He’ll be a leader in the locker room and play lots of minutes in all situations."

Also departing is Grant Rounding, who is signing for Bracknell Hornets. Steve Price, of the Raiders’ management, told fans on the club’s official forum: "Grant has returned to Bracknell with our thanks for th time he spent with us. He’s a fantastic guy to have around in the dressing room as well as off-ice. This year is a big year for him with college so less travelling will give him more time for his studying."
