ISLAND GAMESSCHOOLS and community groups on the Island have only until next Friday, July 9, to register their interest and becoming involved in the spectacular opening procession for the NatWest 2011 Island Games.
More than 1,000 people are needed to create a unified carnival-style parade depicting key events in the history of the Island, including the dinosaurs and Saxon time, the Victorians, the great inventors and the IW Festival.
So far, 30 schools and community groups have signed up but more are needed.
Any school or community group interested in being a part of the event can call Frankie Goldspink on 01983 817282.
The opening ceremony for the NatWest Island Games 2011 is being managed on behalf of the Island Games Association by the Carnival Learning Centre, and has funding from Arts Council England, the Legacy Trust and the Extended Schools’ Service.
