Amateur football around-up

Mill Hill Village 6 Wandsworth 0

After weeks of cup ties Mill Hill Village returned to league football where they entertained Wandsworth Borough.

The game was played on a heavy, cloying pitch and neither side could gain control with much of the play in midfield.

However, a through ball by Darren Hauserman on 25 minutes was latched onto by Wayne Wilson who cooly slotted home.

Village increased their lead ten minutes later when a deft chip by Wilson found Kevin Jones who rounded the keeper to score.

Village scored two more goals before half time, their third came from a mistake by the keeper who spilled Jones' shot for Wilson to walk the ball into the net.

Number four came from the move of the match. It started with Ian Jackson winning the ball, his pass found Hauserman who swept the ball forward to Spencer Whytock. His pass released the electric Jones whose pace took him past the visitors' defence and his shot found the bottom corner of the net from an acute angle.

Wilson completed his hat-trick in the second half from the penalty spot and the ever-willing Neil Golding scored his first of the season.

Albanians 2 BBC1

After missing out on promotion by the narrowest of margins last year the Albanians were among the pre-season favourites for the Southern Olympian League Senior Division Two this time round. However, an indifferent start has seen them languishing nearer the bottom of the table than the top.

Leneghan opened the scoring for the Albanians with a 35-yard volley and, after BBC had equalised, Murphy sealed the points with a cracking finish after running onto Sidford's through pass.

|Old Owens 3 South Bank 0

Old Owens continued their chase for the SAL Division Two title with a convincing victory against South Bank on Saturday.

Owens began strongly with Julian Firth orchestrating a number of flowing moves as Owens' passing and movement tore a ragged South Bank defence apart.

The opening goal came on the half hour when Antony Mann finished cooly when put clear.

The second half was two minutes old when Owens extended their lead following a blistering free kick into the top corner by Wesley Arnold.

The points were sewn up late on when 16-year-old substitute Paul Robinson scored after a strong solo run.

With the other leading clubs in cup action Owens have now opened up a six-point lead at the top-of-the-table in manager Adam Cotton's first season in charge.
