22.17: The IW won 13 medals today, and have 15 in total. They need three more to match the overall tally secured two years ago in Aland. That concludes today's coverage, please come back tomorrow for more live updates through the day.

22.16: SWIMMING - In the swimming, the ladies came sixth in the 4x50m freestyle relay, while the men came fourth in the 4x50m medley.

22.15: FOOTBALL - The IW men defeated Alderney 4-0 to almost assure progression to the next round.

22.15: ATHLETICS - More athletics medals were won by James Forman in the men's 400m hurdles, setting a games record on his way to gold. Jaryd Robinson ran through the pain of a hamstring injury to take bronze in the men's 200m.

22.14: SHOOTING - Matt Reed won a bronze in the men's 50m free pistol event, and was one point from silver.

22.13: SQUASH - The IW squash team won silver after losing 4-1 to Jersey in the team event, while in the archery, Steve Bollen took a silver in the men's recurve at Newclose.

22.12: We appear to have lost some of the feed from earlier today. To fill you in on what has been lost, there was gold and silver for Lucy Rann and Helen Davis respectively in the ladies' javelin, Claire Kiely won bronze in the ladies' 1,500m, and Tom Wade won silver in the men's 5,000m

18.16 - SWIMMING: The Faroe Islands's Pal Joensen wins 1,500m freestyle gold medal in an Island Games record time of 15.28.85, knocking 16 seconds off the record he set in the pool two years ago. The IW's Darren Mew up next.

18.16 - SQUASH: Jersey are 2-1 against the IW in the squash final.

18.16 - SWIMMING: Three swimming races so far have new games records... fast water on the IW.

17.13 - FOOTBALL: IW Ladies drew 1-1 against Aland to give themselves a real chance of going through.

16.29 - FOOTBALL: IW Ladies have equalised against the tournament favourites, Aland, headed in during a scramble.

16.28 - CYCLING: In the men's mountain bike criterion, Sean Williams is tenth, Tim Wiggins is 19th and Richard Evans, James Hunt and Ben Johnson are 26th, 27th and 28th respectively.

15.59: SHOOTING: Stephen Donson and Ken Shynn come sixth in the final of the Universal Trench team event.

15.54: FOOTBALL - The IW ladies are holding Aland 1-0 at half time, a good result so far and keeps them in touching distance. They must get some kind of result here to have any chance of progressing.

15:32 SHOOTING - Gold medal for the men's sporting team, they beat the Isle of Man by one clay. The women's sporting team; Andrea George, Michelle Knowles and Karen Sowerby have also won a gold medal.

15.05: ARCHERY - At half-way point of the first day of the competition, Kevin Hougthon is second in the men's compound and Steve Bollen is second in the men's recurve.

14.38: SHOOTING: GOLD for Richard Wilson and Paul Cotton in the men's 50m prone rifle team event at Downend. The duo, who shot together at the first Island Games in 1985, score 1161, the same as the Isle of Man, but the IW take the medal.

14.37: CYCLING; IW ladies mountain bikers Katherine Chillistone, Karen Murphy and Amanda Van Santen come ninth, tenth, and 11th respectively in the mountain bike criterion at Shorwell.

13.38: ATHLETICS: We had a few heats at the Fairway Sports Centre this morning. It would appear Jaryd Robinson has qualified for the final of the men's 200m, while it appears Samuel Ratcliffe has just missed out. In the men's 800m semi-finals, Joe Wade stormed to a time of 1.55.29, fastest overall, to qualify, while Harrison Curling came seventh in the second semi-final. James Forman made the final of the men's 400m hurdles with the second fastest time.

13.33: SHOOTING: We are hearing rumours of a gold medal in the sporting team shooting event at Sainham, with Dan Bishop, Mark Downer and Lee Pitman winning the title by a single clay. This is TO BE CONFIRMED.

13.33: SHOOTING: Pauline Deadman and Heather Rutherford come fourth in the 10m air rifle team event at Haseley Manor.

13.32: SWIMMING: Joining Darren Mew in the finals of the swimming tonight are Mark Alchin and Matt Barber in the 1,500m freestyle, Paige Critchley in the 50m breaststroke, and the IW teams in the ladies' 4x50m freestyle relay and men's 4x50m medley relay.

13.26: SQUASH - That of course means the IW are guaranteed at least silver!

13.23: SQUASH - The IW has reached the final of the team tournament. They defeated the Cayman Islands in the semi-final and will play the only team to defeat them in the group stages, Jersey, in tonight's final at 5pm.

13.21: TABLE TENNIS - We've just had word from team member Lee Orton that the IW team has won its fourth match in the team event 7-0 against Rhodes. Another brilliant result and the IW are putting their stamp on the competition.

13.18: We've just returned from the archery and shooting ranges, where there's plenty of action going on. Here's what's been going on since Mew's impressive qualification in the swimming....

11:38 BADMINTON - IW beat Menorca 5-0 in the team event. (The best the IW team can come in the team event is fifth).

11:12 SAILING - After pulling out of the first Laser Radials race, IW sailor James McMillan has rejoined the action for race two.

10.55: SAILING - It's a fair day at Yaverland Sailing Club with winds at 14knots. Racing is underway in the Laser Radials but there has already been drama, with James McMillan's IW boat having to retire. More details as we get them. Windsurfing is also underway.

10.14: A couple of nuggets of news from yesterday.Owing to a change in the timetable we didn't realise the IW team in the men's basketball played their first match, defeating Isle of Man 70-54. And at Ryde School the IW table tennis team suffered their first defeat of the team event, going 5-2 down against Jersey.
