& ;lt;b>TEAM Isle of Wight added five more medals - including three gold - to their Island Games tally on the second day of competition in Gotland.
Steeplechaser Dan Eckersley won the team’s first medal on the track by comfortably taking gold in Monday’s 1,500m event.
Earlier in the day, Perron Phipps and Matt Reed won gold in the team 10m air pistol, before sisters Imogen and Shelley Moss won their second gold of the games in the team sport pistol.
Dom Cowen added another shooting medal, winning bronze in the 100m prone rifle.
Swimmer Chloe Plater won the team’s first medal in the pool with a bronze in the women’s 400m individual medley, while the men’s team finished fifth in their 4 x 50m medley final.
The Isle of Wight were placed sixth in the medal table after the second day.
Elsewhere, the ladies’ football team progressed to the semi final after an 8-1 victory over Gilbraltar.
Gemma Woodford, Katy Rawlinson and Susan Cullen all scored twice, alongside strikes by Ellena Crutcher and Danielle Merryfield.
The table tennis team earned their first victories of the games, beating the Caymen Islands 5-2 and Alderney 4-0.
Gymnast Jack Humphray narrowly missed out on a bronze but he will be back in action on Wednesday, and Team Isle of Wight’s basketball side gave another good account of themselves during their 67-58 defeat to Gilbraltar.
In cycling, time trialist Ian Hayden was the fastest Isle of Wight finisher, completing the 37km route in 52.30.
