TEAM Isle of Wight enjoyed a memorable first day of competition at this year's Island Games, winning three medals, including a gold in shooting.
The Moss sisters, Imogen and Shelley, won the team's first gold of the Gotland games in the team 10m air pistol event.
Their victory followed another shooting medal, with Matt Read and Perron Phipps winning silver in the 50m free pistol contest.
Hammer thrower and Island Games stalwart Andy Frost won the team's third medal by taking another silver, although it ended his unbeaten run, having won gold at every games since he first competed at Gotland in 1999.
High jumper Charlie Button was also in action at the athletics stadium, finishing a respectable fifth in the men's final.
Elsewhere, the team's ladies' football and men's basketball teams enjoyed a winning start to their games.
A superb hat-trick by Gemma Woodford helped Team Isle of Wight to a memorable 3-2 victory over the 2015 champions Jersey, while the men's basketball team finished up 72-56 winners against the Isle of Man.
The men's and women's triathletes faced tough conditions in their respective events.
Strong winds led the organisers to shorten the swimming event, but all competitors - Lizzie Steward, Liz Dunlop, Jan Fletcher, Danny Shortman, Joe Staunton, Nick Kenney, Aidan Pierce and Sean Williams - all finished.
The Isle of Wight's badminton team had a mixed start, with a 5-0 win over the Falkland Islands following defeats against Greenland and the Isle of Man.
The table tennis team lost all three of the matches but will hope to bounce back against Greenland and Caymen Islands today (Monday).
The weather also hindered the men's tennis team, as they lost to the Isle of Man.
