ISLANDERS REUNITEDFrom Rob Walters, Shanklin: robiowbirds@btinternet.com
I AM trying to get the word out to Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) crew about a reunion we have organised in Plymouth to mark the 30th anniversary of the ceasefire of the Falklands conflict.
I have lived in Shanklin since I was five years old, and served on the RFA Regent (ammunition ship) during the Falklands.
There are many ex-RFA around the Portsmouth, Southampton and IW regions, but we have found it hard to find them.
Veterans interested in coming along to the free event at Weston Mill Hotel on Thursday, June 14, can call me on 07757 546683.
This is an informal event organised by crew from the RFA (both contract and pool men), for any one who served on board a RFA ship during the Falklands.
All personnel, whether seamen, flight, etc, are welcome.
