ISLANDER REUNITEDFrom John Stroud, Monte paraiso Calle 3, Casa No. 23, Sitio de Calahonda, Mijas Costa 29649, Malaga, Spain:

I SPENT the war years and some time after living in the big house called Wellwood that is now flats and called Wellwood Glade, at the top of Quarr Hill, Binstead.

I lived there with my mother and grandparents, Laurence and Lucy Stroud, my grandfather being in service to the Tattenhall family.

For a long time my grandparents lived in the lodge and I had the free run of the house post war.

I went back recently and realised the stone troughs on the lawn are the same ones the American soldiers used to stand me in while they were entertained by my mother and grandparents shortly before D-Day 1944.

Can anyone fill me in with what happened to Wellwood in the years after the war and before it became flats? I am writing my life story and would like to fill in some gaps.
