LETTERS
From Rosemary Goodfellow, Shanklin:
I was travelling through Shanklin on Monday, January 16, with other family members as part of a cortege.
The hearse was carrying my mother, who had lived a full 100 years and had been a wonderful lady.
We passed a man wearing a high-vis jacket who stopped and removed his cap.
He very likely had not known who the hearse was carrying, but that small gesture, more common in a bygone age, meant a great deal to us on such a difficult day.
If he is reading this I would like to thank him and let him know how much we appreciated that mark of respect.
